Donuts, roses, and a pinata

Happy February!

Yesterday at work was a CHALLENGE! Our computers were down and we had to schedule all our appointments on paper.. I work in the scheduling center for a large pediatrics group. We have 7 clinics.. we had to schedule for ALL 7 clinics on paper!!    “oh that doesn’t sound so bad.”  *evil death glare activated*

This morning I brought my staff donuts to say thank you for all their hard work yesterday. I have been staring at the donuts, smelling their sweet goodness, craving the sprinkles.. But being good and eating my banana instead. Since I started Paleo 3 weeks ago, I am down 10 lbs! I can’t give up now! But oh man.. I want a donut.

Back tracking to last weekend: Baby Daddy Drama. Enough said. My weekend with my boyfriend was cut short and I was extremely upset. Boyfriend to the rescue! He came over the next morning with a dozen red roses 🙂 I immediately was in a better mood. I would have accepted a donut at that point as well.

Tomorrow is Dylan’s birthday party!! We are having a Lego Pizza party!  To save some bucks, I made the pinata! (see photo below) The kids will also get to make their own mini pizzas using Pillsbury Grands Biscuits, shredded  mozzarella and cheddar cheese, mini pepperoni and pizza sauce. Each kid will get to press and shape their ‘dough’  flat, then spread their sauce and add desired cheese and pepperoni. Popped into the oven for a bit and TA DA! Mini pizza! They will also then frost and decorate their own cupcakes. It’s a very hands on party 🙂 So as I am helping Dylan with his pizza, I will be eating my carrot sticks. Wishing I had a donut.

2 week weigh in

Happy Friday! TGIF! Yay for the weekend!

I am 2 weeks into Paleo. Once again I was on that scale this morning. The numbers went down again!

I happened to have a doctor’s appointment this morning, when Doc asked about my diet “Are you getting enough fruits and veggies?” I chuckled. That is all I’m eating! Not really, I’m eating eggs and meat too.. She asked about my calcium intake… “uhhhhhmmmm It could be better..?”

I did get turned on to the brand SO Delicious, which is dairy free. Coconut milk, almond milk, yogurt, ice cream, and coffee creamer! I’ve only tried the coconut milk, coconut milk yogurt, and the coconut milk creamers. I’ve become a fan! Doc said that the coconut milk should have enough calcium in it, especially the yogurt. She recommended that I take multivitamins, along with additional vitamin D. I said “Yep, I do every day!” I’m a really good patient 🙂

So now that I have been granted a clean bill of health and the scale doesn’t moan when I step on it, I am going to enjoy my Starbucks triple shot SOY latte. Oh the happiness of dieting rewards 🙂

Paleo- day 4

I intended to start my Paleo adventure on Friday. But failed when I decided that I wanted one more carb filled meal for dinner!
So Saturday was day 1 of PALEO!!! I did… good. Sunday I had a teensy tiny couple of chips during the Seahawks game. I was anxious! It was an amazing comeback! (And I didn’t bring Paleo approved snacks with me to the Football Party..I need to remember to do that from now on!)

I am just loving all the fruit and veggies I get to eat! I am not having a problem with the salads, eggs, and fruit. But ooohhh I would kill for a glass of milk!

Im cutting back on the amount of coffee I’m consuming in the mornings, and adding in lots of herbal tea and water! I feel like a fish.

I can already feel a difference. I don’t feel bloated or ‘heavy’. Im satisfied after I eat, and not at all disappointed that I didn’t get to eat the cheesecake sitting on the kitchen counter..

I would love to get some Paleo friendly recipes or snacks that you have found and enjoy!

I think I can I think I can

After some discussion with co-workers and contemplating giving up coffee, I have come to the conclusion of trying out the Paleo diet! I will be giving up bread, dairy, refined sugar, cereal grains, potatoes, and processed food!
TALK ABOUT A CHALLENGE!

My goal is to go ONE MONTH. I will be surviving on grass-produced meats, fish, seafood, fruit, veggies, eggs, nuts and seeds. It looks scary, but I enjoy my fruits and veggies. I am going to miss my yogurt, peanut butter, cream cheese and bagels 😦

I usually bring my lunch with me to work, so today I packed a banana, apple, tomato, pear, strawberries, raspberries, and 2 hard-boiled eggs. Dinner is going to be the challenge. But I am up for it!

If I make it a month, I will shoot for 2 🙂

Looking forwards to a better me and better wallet! 🙂

(I added a rule that I am allowed to drink coffee. I just have to limit it and make up for it by drinking extra water)

I can live without ‘blank’

I don’t diet. I love food. I am a chocoholic. I have a sweet-tooth. Fried cheesy food is my weakness!
My New Year’s resolution was to work on my budgeting. Get some debt paid off, save some money. But I feel like I should do more. I could do more. I have been fighting with myself about giving something up to become healthier. Trying to go without something for awhile. Ill start with a goal of 1 month, if I succeed at 1 month, I might go for 2 months, or add something else.
But what is something?

I could live without coffee Wow that was a horrible thing to even think!
I would be able to live without sweets for awhile. The holidays are over and the candy stash at home is dwindling down. I don’t HAVE to eat 4 Hershy kisses a day, as much as I enjoy it..

I want my something to challenge me. I want to better myself, I want to feel better about myself, mentally and physically. Its a new year! HELLO 2013! How am I going to start this new year of becoming a better me?

What have you been able to live without that was a challenge, but you are so glad that you did??

Alcohol? Chocolate? Sugar? Meat? Bread?

This momma needs some help!
