1 Week Weigh In
Last Friday morning I stood on the scale. If I was going to do Paleo, I wanted to be able to track some results! This morning I got back on that same scale. THE NUMBER WENT DOWN!! BY 5!! I stepped off.. and got back on. IT WAS STILL THE LOWER NUMBER! Hot Dang! This Paleo thing is amazing!
I know you are supposed to eat right, drink lots of water and excersize to lose weight. Well I have been a lazy bum the last week. Not a single sit up, push up, lunge, squat, or step on the treadmill. I have always been active. I love playing sports, working out, getting my sweat on. But when its cold and foggy and icy outside (gotta love the Seattle winters!), I want to be lazy!
I want to lay in bed and watch Sons of Anarchy on Netflix! I want to wear my pajamas all weekend!
Paleo was something that I wanted to do to challenge myself. I am giving up some of my favorite items! Cheese, bread, pasta, all processed food and sugar! Now that I have seen the powers of the Paleo diet, I feel like I need to jump on board ALL the way, and not just dangle lazily off the side munching on my carrot sticks. Im not going to set a goal for the number of reps or miles or sit ups I do, but I am going to do some. (Maybe not everyday- as I still enjoy being lazy in the winter)
This ‘Little Challenge’ I chose to do, is turning into a full blown THING!
On a different note, my budgeting project is going well ๐
Paleo- day 4
I intended to start my Paleo adventure on Friday. But failed when I decided that I wanted one more carb filled meal for dinner!
So Saturday was day 1 of PALEO!!! I did… good. Sunday I had a teensy tiny couple of chips during the Seahawks game. I was anxious! It was an amazing comeback! (And I didn’t bring Paleo approved snacks with me to the Football Party..I need to remember to do that from now on!)
I am just loving all the fruit and veggies I get to eat! I am not having a problem with the salads, eggs, and fruit. But ooohhh I would kill for a glass of milk!
Im cutting back on the amount of coffee I’m consuming in the mornings, and adding in lots of herbal tea and water! I feel like a fish.
I can already feel a difference. I don’t feel bloated or ‘heavy’. Im satisfied after I eat, and not at all disappointed that I didn’t get to eat the cheesecake sitting on the kitchen counter..
I would love to get some Paleo friendly recipes or snacks that you have found and enjoy!
I think I can I think I can
After some discussion with co-workers and contemplating giving up coffee, I have come to the conclusion of trying out the Paleo diet! I will be giving up bread, dairy, refined sugar, cereal grains, potatoes, and processed food!
TALK ABOUT A CHALLENGE!
My goal is to go ONE MONTH. I will be surviving on grass-produced meats, fish, seafood, fruit, veggies, eggs, nuts and seeds. It looks scary, but I enjoy my fruits and veggies. I am going to miss my yogurt, peanut butter, cream cheese and bagels ๐ฆ
I usually bring my lunch with me to work, so today I packed a banana, apple, tomato, pear, strawberries, raspberries, and 2 hard-boiled eggs. Dinner is going to be the challenge. But I am up for it!
If I make it a month, I will shoot for 2 ๐
Looking forwards to a better me and better wallet! ๐
(I added a rule that I am allowed to drink coffee. I just have to limit it and make up for it by drinking extra water)
I can live without ‘blank’
I don’t diet. I love food. I am a chocoholic. I have a sweet-tooth. Fried cheesy food is my weakness!
My New Year’s resolution was to work on my budgeting. Get some debt paid off, save some money. But I feel like I should do more. I could do more. I have been fighting with myself about giving something up to become healthier. Trying to go without something for awhile. Ill start with a goal of 1 month, if I succeed at 1 month, I might go for 2 months, or add something else.
But what is something?
I could live without coffee Wow that was a horrible thing to even think!
I would be able to live without sweets for awhile. The holidays are over and the candy stash at home is dwindling down. I don’t HAVE to eat 4 Hershy kisses a day, as much as I enjoy it..
I want my something to challenge me. I want to better myself, I want to feel better about myself, mentally and physically. Its a new year! HELLO 2013! How am I going to start this new year of becoming a better me?
What have you been able to live without that was a challenge, but you are so glad that you did??
Alcohol? Chocolate? Sugar? Meat? Bread?
This momma needs some help!
5 years young
My little man turns 5 in a month!!!! With my Budget frenzy going on at the moment, I am trying to figure out what to do for his birthday thatย A) is fun for 5 year oldsย andย B) is nice to my wallet.
February in the PNW is iffy, so outdoor activities can be limiting..
Ideas?? DIY?
Snack
Please notice the splats of apple sauce on the table.. It’s times like this when I just let the mess happen.. I will clean it all up at once when he is done… *sigh*
Aaaaand I’m back!
After what seems like a bajillion years, I am finally back! I wish I could say that I have been out of the country traveling and seeing the sights, or feeding baby pandas, or surfing with dolphins or anything remotely exciting or exotic!
I have actually just been lazy ๐
The weather has finally started to look like summer out here in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, and we have been enjoying it!
Instead of writing a post about each event or activity we have been getting ourselves into, I’ll share some brief deets here..
A girlfriend and I took the kids bowling! Watching 4 year olds try to roll the 7 pound ball down the lane is hilarious! Although it took the ball a good 2 minutes to get from Dylan’s hands to the pins, he had a great time! And his score was actually better than mine in the end, with bumpers!! Maybe I should take lessons from him..
I got some new ink! ”Amazing” to remind myself that I am amazing and strong and I can do whatever I put my mind to! It’s also a promise to myself to stay amazing!
Someone lost a tooth! Yes he is too young for his teeth to be coming out on their own.. there was an intense wrestling match between Dylan and his uncle, and uncle’s foot and Dylan’s mouth did not get along.
But the tooth fairy came! Shoes On the Wrong Feet gave me a great idea in one of her past posts about the ToothFairy, So I took that concept and made it my own! Dylan got a note from the ToothFairy and we discussed in great length about what the ToothFairy looks like (purple wings, green shoes, and a gold crown) and which cloud in the sky she lives on.
Dylan got a hair cut! And from the picture below.. you can tell it was much-needed!!
We spent a week at my grandparents house at Lake Chelan in Eastern Washington. Sun, pool, sun, hot tub, pool, sun, and smiles ๐ Dylan ‘swam’ by himself! With the assistance of a life jacket, he wiggled his way back and forth across the pool yelling “Watch this!”
4th of July! We BBQ’d at a friend’s house. Lots of kids running up and down the street while the parents lined the sidewalks in their camping chairs. The firework show was fun! The guys all had a blast out doing each other’s fireworks!
My cousin got married! And I had the amazing honor to stand beside her at the altar as one of her bridesmaids! This particular cousin and I are only 2 months apart, and we have grown up together our entire life. It was so wonderful to be able to be a part of her special day!
Dylan and my brothers after the ceremony. Such handsome fellas!
Happy Friday to all! Hope your weekend will be filled with happiness and sunshine!
Almost Friday!
ITS ALMOST FRIDAY!
Just in case you weren’t sure what day it was..
Looking forwards to a wonderful weekend of wine, friends, shenanigans, more friends, and laughter!
